Metz & Associates, Ltd.’s "Customer First" philosophy and commitment to regional growth has assisted us in becoming a premiere food service company for the Northeastern United States. Through the years, we have remained true to our mission statement below concerning our clients and employees.

Mission Statement

Metz and Associates, Ltd. is dedicated to providing personalized dining and support services that create mutual pride, trust and confidence through the pursuit of operational excellence.

John C. Metz
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer

In 1967 John C. Metz began his career in the Food Service Management industry with the founding of Custom Management Corporation.

The result was astounding: this small, regional provider grew into an industry leader and set standards for the competition to follow.

Metz's personal success is well-documented by his peers through a variety of awards including such industry prizes as the International Foodservice Manufacturer Association's Silver Plate Award and Restaurant Business magazine's Leadership award.

In 1987 Custom Management Corporation was acquired by Morrison's Hospitality Group, and John Metz was named Chairman of "Morrison's Custom Management." During his tenure, he oversaw a growth of more than 900 accounts.

In the late 80's Metz turned his attention to other endeavors, including banking and real estate. But he never really left the industry which was his first love, only expanded his involvement with an emphasis in education by becoming a Trustee Board Member with the National Restaurant Association's Educational Foundation, the same organization where he also serves as a Board Director. In addition, Metz has remained an active member of the Culinary Institute of America.

His devotion to education led to his joining the Board of Overseers of Harvard University and becoming a Board Trustee at College Misericordia in Dallas, Pennsylvania.

In 1993 John Metz was awarded franchise rights from the popular T.G.I. Friday's restaurant chain. Under the corporate umbrella of Northeast Restaurant Group, Inc., John Metz has opened Friday's eateries in the Pennsylvania cities of Wilkes-Barre, Williamsport, and Quakertown as well as in the New Jersey towns of Toms River, Atlantic City, Somers Point, Turnersville and Brick Township.

In 1994, John Metz introduced Metz and Associates, Ltd., the management company for dining services. Metz and Associates operates in a wide variety of settings, such as major hospitals, public school districts, colleges and universities, and even corporate jet catering. It has become one of the fastest-growing regional food service providers in the nation. In 2000, Metz and Associates expanded into the area of facilities management.

As an entrepreneur, John Metz has demonstrated a tenacity to succeed. It is this determination, combined with a keen anticipation of customer needs and dining management, which has fueled his diverse enterprises. The result has been strong business settings which offer individuals tremendous opportunities to succeed while offering the dining public entertainment, relaxation, and - of course - great food.

Harold S. Leininger, III
President & Chief Operating Officer

Together with John C. Metz and Robert Aughenbaugh, Harold Leininger forged the groundwork from which the entity Metz & Associates would grow. This foundation was built on a solid base of service - individual guests being served one meal at a time.

The company has grown significantly since it was first conceived, but it has done so carefully due to Harold's belief that you must never outgrow your ability to provide outstanding service, one guest at a time. Harold has maintained this focus by inverting the traditional corporate hierarchy and placing the guest at the center of all efforts followed closely by the client.

Part of this philosophy is also founded in a belief that the company's success is directly related to the success of the individuals who work for you. Harold maintains that you create opportunities for your team to succeed and experience personal growth.

"By understanding that the corporate structure exists to service individuals, not bureaucracy, you can remain focused on people, not numbers."
