DALLAS, PA – June 24, 2009 –While away at school, many finicky students tend to live on pizza, burgers, chicken tenders and an array of pre-packaged junk foods. Metz & Associates, Ltd., a leading dining and environmental management provider, is attracting students to the dining halls of many of the colleges and universities it serves with special Gourmet Night promotions.

“During our Gourmet Nights, our chef’s create an upscale meal, such as seafood, prime rib or steak with appropriate side dishes, that students can enjoy in the dining hall,” said Bruce Deeble, dining manager, Metz & Associates, Ltd. at Misericordia University. “They have the option of paying a few extra dollars for the gourmet meal or using their flex dollars to pay the difference.”

At the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford, the Metz team held Gourmet Nights that were not only offered to students, but were also open to the public. The extra cost to students was only $1, and the price of the meal included the specially prepared sumptuous entrée, plus everything else offered in the dining hall on that particular evening, including the salad and deli bars, soup, pizza, grilled items, desserts and drinks.

“It was quite a deal for both the students and the local community. We advertised a premium meal for a specific price and anyone in the community could come and join the students for dinner,” said Lucy Nuzzo, Metz & Associates, Ltd. Catering Manager at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford. “The community members loved the dinners and we packed both the dining hall and the University Room during Gourmet Nights.”

Today’s college students have grown up watching mouthwatering meals prepared on celebrity chef shows and are accustomed to the quality and variety of restaurant dining. Special promotions, such as the Gourmet Nights presented by Metz, are meant to keep students happy eating on campus. Many of the student meals are also prepared to order, right in front of their eyes, which is always a big hit.
