The Metz team implemented the smoothie program at several of the hospitals and other health care facilities they serve, including Mercy Hospital, Pocono Medical Center, Butler Health System, Newton Memorial Hospital, Riverview/Riverwoods, Normandie Ridge, Cannonsburg Hospital and Bon Secours.
The fresh fruit smoothies come in a variety of flavors, such as strawberry, banana, wild berry and orange cream to name a few. The recipes utilize an array of fresh strawberries, blueberries, mandarin oranges and bananas, all blended up into an icy concoction that proved to be a popular and satisfying treat for busy healthcare workers.
According to John Williams, Metz & Associates, Ltd., Dietary Manager at Pocono Medical Center, sales of the smoothies were brisk when first introduced in early August and the company plans to continue the promotion until the end of September. “They’re a perfect snack option for our on-the-go hospital staff and visitors– healthy, quick and filling,” Williams said. “They’re also a great way to cool off on a hot summer day.”
