Top honors in the beef category, as well as the Peoples Choice Award for overall winner, were presented to the “Good Health Grillers,” the culinary team of Lisa Wakefield and Matt Rusnock. Both employees of Metz & Associates, Ltd., Wakefield is the general manager at Newton Memorial Hospital in Newton, New Jersey and Rusnock is the retail manager at the hospital. Newton’s Chief Operating Officer, Sean O’Rourke, assisted the duo in manning the grill during the competition.
The heat was on as the team grilled up a crowd-pleasing version of beef tenderloin in a honey and coffee marinate, which took top honors in beef. Accompanying the popular dish, and helping it to win the overall “Peoples Choice,” was sides of grilled pears and a vegetable Thai fry.
“We really enjoyed this years event and were so pleased with the results,” Rusnock said. “The competition was very interactive, with the judges and also the public able to observe and ask questions during all phases of the event, from preparation through grilling and plating. We look forward to returning next year.”
